Client Name: Housing New Zealand Corporation
Project Value: $6.1M
Location: Three Kings, Auckland
Completion Date: October 2013
New apartment development for the elderly and war widows. The 22 bedroom building has been split into 2 blocks.
The street frontage block contains only 4 apartments and has the central lift and stairs. This street frontage block is 2 storeys high – the smaller massing and scale reflecting the surrounding residential houses.
The rear block is 3 levels, contains 18 apartments and is positioned lower down the site. Private gardens and a protected community courtyard link the two blocks. On the external elevations, timber weather boards and precast concrete panels cast in a weather board pattern have been used to reflect the residential site and setting.
