Auckland Zoo’s Te Puna Café was built to modernise food service to customers, and also open up opportunities for the zoo to provide a top-quality facility which can be hired out for events. Built on a rocky out-crop overhanging the central lake and overlooking the High Canopy habitat, it provides a unique outlook where visitors can watch orangutans and siamangs swinging by via the innovative network of aerial pathways.

Visitors to Te Puna can enjoy the large open area surrounded by full height glass panels with a perforated acoustic ceiling. Features also include a large commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor seating, restrooms and changing facilities, plus an upstairs storage area.
